This beachfront project combines a 2BR guest house (Casa Melray 1) plus a 3 story villa (Casa Melray 2) comprised of a 3rd floor luxury penthouse, a 2nd floor owner’s unit and four guests suites on the main floor. Together, this 5-Star B&B is an oasis of casual elegance.
The project comprises approximately 8000sft of indoor and outdoor living space. Casa Melray was built with sustainability in mind from the ground up. Both buildings have their own ELOY wastewater treatment systems allowing gray water to irrigate the lush gardens. Rooftop solar panels provide enough electricity to power the whole project. The open, airy design of the main living spaces takes advantage of airflows and use of shade to allow guests to enjoy the breezes in comfort. Fully insulated walls and ceilings, plus Low-E windows help keep cool air in and moisture out.
Framing Casa Melray with lightweight steel made perfect sense. Building on the beach requires extra foundation support due to light sand and moisture, and using lightweight steel frame allowed the foundation to be minimized.
The project features a large shared pool and Jacuzzi and an outdoor communal kitchen for the B&B’s guests. Common areas feature 15-foot ceilings, adding to the spaciousness. All of the wood furnishings and cabinetry were custom built by FRAME’s wood shop. A/C and music are controlled throughout the project with an “intelligent home” control system. Finally, the built-in central vacuum system makes cleaning a breeze. http://casamelray.com/
